Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 Pitch Was Rejected by Activision in Favour of Call of Duty Support Work for Vicarious Visions – Rumour

Following the success of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 remake in 2020, fans of the franchise were eager for more. However, a recent report from DidYouKnowGaming, based on anonymous sources, suggests that plans for further remakes have been shelved. According to the report, developer Vicarious Visions proposed a follow-up project consisting of remakes for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4.

Initially, the goal was to create remakes of the first four Tony Hawk games in a single collection. Yet, as development on the first two games progressed, the focus shifted to solely those installments. The success of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 led to plans for a second remake featuring the subsequent two games in the series.

However, Activision turned down the pitch for the new remake duo. The publisher felt Vicarious Visions would be more valuable contributing to the Call of Duty series. Consequently, efforts shifted away from the skateboarding genre.

Vicarious Visions later developed Diablo 2: Resurrected and was eventually integrated into Blizzard Entertainment in 2021, later being rebranded as Blizzard Albany in 2022. Tony Hawk himself confirmed that a combined remake of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 and 4 was under discussion at Vicarious Visions before the merger occurred.

Fans hoping for a revival of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series might have to wait a bit longer as the studio continues its focus on other major franchises within the Blizzard portfolio.
