It was always expected that Starfield would be a hit in 2023, so when Bethesda Game Studios saw over 2 million players lining up for their first new IP in over two decades even before the official release, it didn't surprise anyone. Moreover, Starfield also broke records on Steam and became Bethesda's biggest launch yet.
In the first fortnight alone, over 10 million players explored the game's interstellar landscape. While this doesn't necessarily mean 10 million copies were sold – millions are accessing the game via Game Pass – it's nonetheless impressive, outpacing the first month of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which took a month to reach that mark. How close Starfield will come to match Skyrim's total of 60 million copies sold is yet to be seen.
