The latest update to the Google Weather app, designed specifically for Pixel devices, introduces an engaging new feature that enhances the way users experience weather updates. This feature, which enhances the functionality of the app, was unveiled in conjunction with the Pixel 9 lineup last August during the annual Made by Google event. Users can now enjoy a more immersive weather-checking experience through vibrations that correspond with current weather conditions.
The immersive weather vibrations feature has been identified in version 1.0.20240910.678970266.release of the Weather app. This component of the app appears to be a server-side enhancement and can be found in the options panel on the right, just below the AI-powered weather report functionality. The vibrations will allow the smartphone to pulse in sync with weather-related animations, making it more engaging. It is anticipated that this feature will cover various weather scenarios, including intense rain, snow, storms, light rain, and sporadic showers. In addition to the vibrations, there will also be accompanying sound effects to further enrich the experience.
While team members from Gadgets 360 have reported that they could not confirm its immediate availability in the Weather app, it is believed that this feature will be gradually introduced to Pixel users. As such, it may take a while for all users to gain access to the new functionality.
Furthermore, there are indications that the Weather app, currently exclusive to the Pixel 9 series, may soon extend its availability to older Pixel models. This expansion will encompass devices from the Pixel 6, Pixel 7, and Pixel 8 series, in addition to the Pixel A series devices such as the Pixel 6a, Pixel 7a, Pixel 8a, as well as the Google Pixel Tablet.
